Tim Chadsey : Furniture Designer

Born in Toronto, Tim came to England in the 1970s to study photography and stayed working in London as a still life photographer for 25 years.

Turning from photography to furniture design, he trained with Jonathan Markovitz and was then employed at Alan Englefield’s workshop, thus learning the traditional and modern craft skills needed to make furniture of the highest quality.

Tim uses sustainable European and North American hardwoods and natural finishes (rather than sprayed lacquer) which enhance the characteristics of the wood.

Tim’s design ethos is, in essence, simplicity and elegance. At the heart of good design is a combination of form and function that suits his client’s requirements and at the same time expresses the beauty of the material. His aim is to make furniture that emphasises individuality of style, quality of craftsmanship, beauty of materials and design that will please for generations to come.
