Soraya French: Painter

Soraya is a freelance artist, tutor and author. As well as painting and exhibiting, she is a regular contributor to the Uk’s leading art publication ‘’The Artist magazine’’. The success of her two art books commissioned by HarperCollins have brought her international recognition and following. She is an elected member of the Society of women artists and exhibits her work with them annually at the Mall galleries. Soraya is the UK demonstrator for the New York based Art company GOLDEN acrylics and Caran D’Ache of Switzerland. She carries out a number of lectures and demonstrations for art groups and societies throughout the year and runs workshops at Project Workshops, Dedham Hall, Earnley Concourse, West Norfolk Art Centre and Jack Beck House as well as a number of venues abroad.

She is a figurative painter and most of her subjects are of transient moments, people going about their everyday life. In her paintings the focus of the subject is supported by abstract and semi abstract passages that create a certain ambiguous and evocative quality in her work, leaving something for the viewer’s imagination. Light and colour are the two prominent features of her work. Her work is exhibited in a number of Art Fairs and galleries in UK throughout the year, and can be seen by appointment now at Project Workshops in her studio.
